Who is behind this site

Bjorn Einarsson, Iceland South Coast and glacier-lagoon tour guide and local specialist

Björn Einarsson

Björn is an Icelandic local who has guided visitors along the South Coast since 2020 and out to the glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach since 2022. By his own count he has hosted more than 1,000 international travellers on the long eastern route: past Seljalandsfoss and the black-sand village of Vík, across the Eldhraun lava field, all the way to the ice at Jökulsárlón. His ground is the practical side of that day. When the boat cruise is running, how the light falls on the beach, why the drive back can turn up the aurora, and when the weather says turn around. Ask him what makes the day worth doing and the answer is plain. Good timing, honest expectations, and someone else at the wheel for the five hours each way.

What Björn does and does not do here

Plainly: Björn guides the South Coast and the glacier lagoon, but he does not lead the specific coach this site features. That bookable departure is operated by BusTravel Iceland, with its own drivers and guides. Björn's role on this site is research and honest reporting. He knows the route firsthand, standing at the lagoon in every season and reading the weather on the drive, so he vets the featured listing the way a working guide would, without pretending to be behind its wheel.

That line matters to us. A guide claiming firsthand experience he does not have is the exact thing we built this site to avoid.

How this site checks its facts

Every figure here traces to a real source. The tour's rating, review count, duration, inclusions, pickup arrangement, boat-cruise season and cancellation terms all come from the operator's official GetYourGuide listing, and we re-check them against it rather than letting them drift. Where a value moves, like the price for a given date and currency, we send you to the live listing instead of freezing a number that will go stale.

The safety and geography facts work the same way. Diamond Beach's sneaker-wave and rip-current warnings come from Iceland's official travel-safety guidance at safetravel.is; road and weather calls trace to road.is and the Icelandic Met Office at en.vedur.is; lagoon figures come from published survey and park sources. Where we could not verify something, we say so instead of guessing. You can see that approach on the guided tour vs self-drive page.

How this site makes money

When you book through links here, you land on the operator's official GetYourGuide listing and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the whole model. It does not change your price, and it does not soften what we tell you about the day. The full note is on the affiliate disclosure page.
